Pastor Confex Makhalira and his family have been back in Malawi for a few months. Let’s review God’s work through His faithful servants:
Back to Malawi
The Makhaliras arrived in Malawi in late July to a wonderful homecoming with family and friends. The first few weeks were spent setting up their house, registering the girls for school, setting up the guest house office for the interns, plus everything else that needed to be done living in a new city. One major hiccup: the shipping container was shipped to the wrong country which made it difficult for the family.

Bible Studies and Meetings
Confex began meeting with people and families in the area to gauge interest in joining their church planting efforts. Three interns started working with Confex during the first week of September—praying and planning for the work ahead of them.
Praise the Lord! On Sunday, September 15th, the first Bible study was held in the Makhalira home. Seventeen people gathered to begin studying Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Confex was greatly encouraged by the feedback he received.
On Saturday, September 28th, Confex and his interns launched their initial outreach efforts by going house to house throughout the neighborhood. Gospel tracts and testimonies were shared. The Christ Presbyterian Church interns are continuing this door to door ministry on a weekly basis.
September 30th, the shipping container finally arrived! Everyone in the family is excited to have all their belongings with them in Blantyre.
Since then, Bible studies have been going well with additional people/families joining them. Confex continues teaching from Ephesians and recently began Chapter 3. He is encouraged that people are now contacting them inquiring about the Bible studies and new people continue to attend. We praise the Lord for each one.
Reformed Pastors’ Conference
The first big event was held on Saturday, October 26th. Confex and two pastor friends led their first Reformed pastors’ conference in the capital city, Lilongwe. Seventy pastors registered for the conference with over fifty in attendance. It proved to be a great event with solid Reformed teaching. Feedback was encouraging with requests to make the conference an annual event.
Join us in thanking God for the work He is doing in Blantyre with the MRN Church Plant and asking for His continued blessing on Confex and the team as they continue their work in Jesus’ name.
