Introducing Malawi Reformation Network (MRN)

It is with great joy and excitement that we are sending this email to announce the official launch of Malawi Reformation Network (MRN).

What is Malawi Reformation Network?

MRN is a Reformed ministry seeking healthy multiplication of confessional Reformed churches in Malawi, Africa through sound theological education and pastoral training.

It is heartbreaking that although Malawi has many churches, very few are theologically reformed and faithfully preach the gospel of Christ. The “prosperity gospel” and nominalism are not uncommon in these churches. However, we remain hopeful that God will revive His Church and are praying that MRN might be an instrument in this work. We are also working to see Malawi populated with confessional Reformed churches, devoted to preaching the wonderful gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

To accomplish our goal we are focusing on three areas:

Reformed theological education
Reformed pastoral training
Reformed church planting

We are identifying men who have received God’s call to preach and plant Reformed churches in Malawi. Then we will bring these men to study at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and/or another Reformed seminary in the USA. During their studies they would also participate in a pastoral internship at University Reformed Church (URC) in East Lansing, Michigan in order to gain practical experience as a Reformed pastor. After their studies, they will then return to Malawi to plant local Reformed Presbyterian churches.

As we have been praying and working to establish MRN in the last couple of months, 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 has constantly been on my mind:

“What we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ,”

Our prayer is that through MRN God will raise godly Malawian men who have seen the light and desire to proclaim the gospel to the glory of God.
