Dear friends,
It’s Christmas season again! Time to celebrate God’s most wonderful gift to us, Jesus Christ. As the Apostle Paul reflects on this gift, he runs out of words to describe Christ and only exclaims, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Cor. 9:15).
On the day that God gave us this indescribable gift as a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and laid in a manger, an angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds who were out in the field keeping watch over their flock by night. The shepherds were afraid, but the angel encouraged them and said:
“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord,” (Luke 2:8-11).Tweet itThis is one of the rare cases in which we read of an angel preaching the gospel. Since sin entered the world, God has usually chosen to use human beings to proclaim Christ to fellow human beings here on earth. This is a great blessing and privilege because as the Bible tells us, human beings have been made a little lower than angels (Heb. 2:7).
We here at MRN cherish and take this privilege seriously hence we are endeavoring to see this gospel of Christ spread across every corner of Malawi through healthy Reformed churches and also through men who are thoroughly trained for the task. As the year ends, we would like to thank you for your support to MRN. As a newly established organization, we have greatly appreciated and benefited from your prayers, words of encouragement, and financial support. Thank you for standing with us in 2018.
I would like also to take this opportunity to ask you to consider giving an end of the year gift to MRN. Any amount you give will help us to finance our activities lined up for 2019, which include bringing two students to study at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and do their pastoral internship at University Reformed Church.
On behalf of my family, MRN Board and volunteers, allow me to wish you a Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year.
Your brother in Christ,
Rev. Confex Makhalira
